Success Is Not About What You Believe.

How to work smart

Good Sunday.

I’m sleep deprived for God knows how many days in a row, but the work has to be done.

By the way, did you know that caffeine takes 10 hours to be washed out of your system?

Take that into consideration when loading yourself up with it.

Anyway, today’s topic is very dear to me.

You see, when I was starting out on my journey of self-development and ecommerce, I thought somewhat like this:

“Okay, I see a lot of people on Social Media making money and living the life I dream of. They must have some secret that I don’t know of. But I’m sure of 1 thing - I must start something.”

After 6 months of almost no progress, I thought this:

“Okay, I work on my craft every day, I exercise daily, but still I see little progress. I guess I must work harder; I must do more.”

1.5 years in, I came to a realization:

“I’m working twice, if not thrice as hard as before, raising my standards, but still I am not seeing as much progress as I’d like to.”

I then tried a different approach - prioritizing efficiency.

Here’s the thing: what you work on and how you work on it matter more than how hard you work in general.

Look, most people fall into 2 categories:

  1. They start working on something; the progress they see over a small period of time doesn’t match their expectations; they quit.

  2. They start working on something; they stick to it and see progress; they hit the ceiling after some time, stop growing, and settle for what they have/quit.

Why does this happen?

Because working hard nowadays is not enough.

You need to become efficient.

So, what does efficiency mean?

In simple terms, it means getting as much done as possible with as little effort as possible.

Now, think about it - how can you achieve this?

I’ll tell you how - become knowledgeable enough and utilize that knowledge.

Doing something efficiently means that you understand the process more than others.

It allows you to get more done in shorter periods of time, giving you even more time to study.

It’s a self-reinforcing cycle that you can actually learn.

Learn first-principle reasoning, set a time limit to your tasks, and dive deep into the details of what you do.

That’s how you become the master of your craft.

I’m able to crank out so much work in an hour that my previous self couldn’t even dream of.

Efficiency = volume, friend.
